Kalua Pork II

Dinner is finished and the results are in. According to Joe, the kalua pork was a success! It was a little heavy on the salt and the original cook time seemed excessive so I tweaked the prior entry to reflect the changes. I also cooked up some rice to complete the meal. Overall it was a pretty tasty affair. Notice I served it plate lunch style with two scoops rice (however I did forgo the one scoop mac salad).

For the newbs out there wondering how to achieve good hawaiian style rice here's a simple guide:

Sticky White Rice
Serves: 4 (or 2 plus leftovers)

1 1/2 cup Calrose rice
2 1/4 cup water

Mix the water and the rice in a rice cooker and you're good to go! Easy as that. Usually takes about 20 minutes to cook.

There you have it! A gluten free meal with a bit of hawaiianstyle delciousness. To balance it out a little I included some fresh fruit and veggies. If you want, you can even chop up some cabbage and throw it in with the pork in the last hour or so that it's cooking. It's often served that way in HI.

Tonight I'm going to work on assembling a menu for the next week so by tomorrow I should be able to provide a glimpse into the Hansilton's culinary future (since obviously you were dying to know).
