Due to crazy schedules and living in different places, it proved tricky to get everyone together at the same time. But on December 2nd the stars aligned and all nine of us (plus our photographer) were available.
And it was raining. And freezing. And windy. Did I mention this was an outdoor shoot? Yes, well, I had this vision of a photo by a barn. A vision that made more sense in early October when we initially tried to arrange this event (think golden hay bales and brightly colored falling leaves). But by December 2nd the trees were leafless and the mud was plentiful. However, it is so rare to get everyone in the same place at the same time that we pressed on and did the photo shoot anyway.
We got some good barn shots and when the weather cleared we'd run out and get some quick shots outside. All in all, considering the weather situation, I think the photo shoot was a success. And afterward we all went home and had pizza and hot cider. At the very least it provided a shared moment with the whole family (and photographic evidence of it) that we can all enjoy for years to come.
